What are the Weight Loss Peptides and How do they work?

TN Health Solutions offers two weight loss peptides to include Semaglutide & Tirzepatide based on indications. We use the compounded versions of the these medication that are created in the United States at a FDA approved pharmacy.

SEMAGLUTIDE

Semaglutide is an injectable medication that has been recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of obesity. It belongs to a class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 receptor agonists. These medications work by mimicking the effects of a hormone called GLP-1, which is naturally produced in the body. GLP-1 helps regulate blood sugar levels and appetite, making it an important player in weight management.

When you inject semaglutide, it binds to GLP-1 receptors in the brain, pancreas, and other tissues. By stimulating these receptors, semaglutide enhances the release of insulin, a hormone that helps lower blood sugar levels. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with type 2 diabetes and obesity, as high blood sugar levels and insulin resistance are common in these conditions. Additionally, semaglutide slows down the emptying of the stomach, which can lead to a feeling of fullness and reduce appetite.

One of the key ways in which semaglutide promotes weight loss is by acting on the brain's reward system. The reward system is responsible for generating pleasurable feelings in response to certain behaviors, such as eating delicious food. However, in individuals with obesity, this system can become dysregulated, leading to overeating and a heightened desire for high-calorie foods. Semaglutide has been shown to restore balance to the reward system by decreasing cravings and reducing the pleasurable response to unhealthy foods. This can help individuals make healthier food choices and resist temptations that may hinder their weight loss efforts.

TIRZEPATIDE

At its core, Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injectable drug that belongs to a class of medications called glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs). GLP-1RAs are known for their ability to regulate blood sugar levels, decrease appetite, and promote weight loss. Tirzapatide is particularly unique because it combines the benefits of two different drugs - semaglutide and tirzepatide - into one powerful treatment.

The way tirzepatide works is by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body. GLP-1 is naturally produced by the intestines and plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels after meals. It stimulates the release of insulin from the pancreas, which helps lower blood sugar levels, and also slows down the emptying of the stomach, leading to increased feelings of fullness and decreased appetite. Tirzepatide works by activating the GLP-1 receptor in the body, resulting in similar effects.
